Interior
Eight passengers will fit in the three row SUV unless you opt for the second-row captain’s chairs, then that number drops to seven. The third row has close to 10 inches more than the Chevy Tahoe, but its high floor disturbs comfort.
It has convenient interior cubby space along with an immense center-console storage bin.
Behind the final row, the Suburban has 39 cubic feet which is enough space to fit 12 carry-on bags.
Drive Time
Driving around this big boy will get you 15 miles to the gallon in the city and 23 miles to the gallon on the freeway.
The Suburban is stocked with one of two engines: a standard 355-hp 5.3-liter or an optional 420-hp 6.2-liter V-8. You can choose either rear or all-wheel drive on any of the models.
When it is properly equipped the SUV can tow up to 8300 pounds, which is 1000 pounds less than its Ford Expedition rival.
Tech and Safety
Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, 8.0-inch touchscreen and a 4G LTE mobile hotspot are standard on every Suburban. A number of charging points include five 12-volt outlets and five USB ports.
The Suburban lacks standard driver-assistance features but notable equipment is optional. Key safety features include: available automated emergency braking, available blind-spot monitoring, and available lane-keeping assist.
