The all-new Buick Velite 7 EV was officially introduced in China. The latest member of the Velite model family gives us a new design language for the brand’s range of new-energy vehicles. It uses the illuminated “Buick Blue” logo as a sign of identity.
Visually, the new 7 EV has a modern design with unique elements compared to the rest of the brand’s portfolio. The iconic Buick winged grille has a new look that stands out. It consists of a glass module with LED guides that stimulate the “wings,” and sit very well with the daytime running lights of the sophisticated headlight clusters.
To strengthen the front-end look, there are air-guiding curtains on both sides of the front bumper. They reduce wind resistance and prevent air turbulence on the front wheels. The rear end continues the front lighting scheme.
Inside the Buick embraces the 360 degree concept of an integrated cabin with a driver-oriented dashboard. This concept includes an eight-inch digital instrument panel, a gold-finish trim, and a ten-inch multimedia display. A floating center console is where the new Buick button gear selection sits.
The Velite 7 EV offers a five passenger cabin with a completely flat rear seat floor. This gives it 12.8 cubic feet with seats up and 47 cubic feet when the seats are flat. It is also complemented by up to 20 storage spaces.
The 2021 Velite 7 EV will launch in China later this year. It will be equipped with a 175-horsepower electric motor and a state-of-the-art battery pack that will provide a driving range of up to 300 miles. It is expected to share some similarities with the upcoming Chevrolet Bolt EUV. So, while Buick is not likely to offer this vehicle in the states, you will be able to get your hands on something like it, in the Bolt. But patience will be key because the Bolt EUV isn’t due until mid-2021 as a 2022 model.
